Kearney County Health Services announced Thursday that it will close its nursing home and assisted living operations. The final day for both facilities that was submitted to the State Department of Health and Human Services will be February 28, 2018.
“We want families to know we will be flexible with that date especially if it comes to vacancy needed at Bethany Home to ensure a local option for all our current residents this will affect,” KCHS CEO Luke Poore said. “Our first priority is our residents and staff.”
The decision to end elderly care services was officially made at the December 27 KCHS Board of Trustees meeting after exiting executive session. The fate of nursing home and assisted living services at KCHS is a topic the Trustees have discussed at length for quite some time.
