The Kearney County Board of Supervisors had a full agenda at their January 16 regular meeting.
Highway Superintendent Randy Smith told the board he been in contact with a resident living at El Charman interested in donating funds to help get the road leading to El Charman paved. The project has been on the County’s One & Six Year Plan for quite some time. Smith said he found no problems with accepting donations for a specific project but noted the funds would need to be given to the County before the County paid the contractor for the work.
Although the supervisors weren’t adverse to accepting a donation to help fund the project that was already slated, it brought up questions of what percentage of a project would be accepted and what bearing donations would have in determining what projects were undertaken by the County. They discussed creating a procedure to follow for future donations to projects.
