Much of the October 15 Minden City Council meeting was spent on matters relating to an expansion of Royal Engineered Composites. Introducing the topic was a public hearing for the Planning Grant CDBG Application.
The hearing was opened at 6:09 p.m. Lori Ferguson, SCEDD Community Consultant, and Kelly Gewecke, NE Department of Economic Development Central Field Service Representative, explained the process for those attending the meeting. The City of Minden has submitted a $505,000 grant application to NDED on behalf of Royal Engineered Composites.
Brenda Tanfield, CFO of Royal Engineered Composites explained the need for an expansion of the facility. Royal has traditionally split a particularly large order with another manufacturer. The other manufacturer recently backed out leaving Royal to fill the full order.
