The Minden City Council tackled a number of topics quickly during the August 7 regular meeting. A citizen request item that appeared on the July 20 agenda was given more formal attention with consideration of an ordinance.
During the previous meeting, the council discussed the difficulty in navigating E. 2nd Street from Brown Avenue when vehicles are parked on both sides of the street. The topic was introduced by a request from resident Mindy Walsh who requested the council consider only allowing parking on one side of the street to allow more space for traffic.
The council agreed the street is very narrow and turning onto 2nd Street from Brown Avenue can be difficult because of parked cars. They determined that it would be easier to turn onto the street if there was no parking on the south side of the street. It was also believed that there are more parking options with driveways for residents on the south side of the street than those to the north.
