Jake Kuehn played in the 2014 State Class C golf tournament as a freshmen member, on the last team from Minden that qualified for state golf competition. Since then Kuehn has fallen short of the mark as an individual. Not in 2017. Kuehn played the best round of his four-year career in qualifying for state, which will be held on May 23 and 24 at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney. Jake’s round included a 39 on the front nine and a 36 on the more difficult back nine. Kuehn’s 75 earned him the silver medal from the Class C-4 district golf championships. Minden finished eighth as a team recording the best 18 hole team score of 357. In the course of finishing the season, three of the five players recorded personal best scores.
Besides the 75 turned in by Kuehn, Thomas Miller played a fabulous round finishing with a career low 84. Thomas was four strokes from qualifying for the state tournament as an individual.
Ethan Hanson played very well and carded a 91 for the day. Hanson’s round was destined for the mid-80s had it not been for three double bogeys recorded in the final few holes of the tournament. Jacob Luff came in with a 107 followed by Alex Olson with a 113.
