Minden Parks and Recreation is preparing to brighten the summer with a Color Blaze 5k & 1 mile walk/run. Sign up for participants and volunteers is now open for the June 24 event.
The Color Blaze is not your average running event. Participants are encouraged to wear white shirts, old and ratty or new and bright makes no difference. Volunteers will be stationed along the route to throw a colored powder on runners as they pass. No winners are named and no prizes awarded, but every participant leaves with a ‘new’ shirt courtesy of the colored powder.
Fun is the focus of the Color Blaze. There is no need to train for the run like you would a half marathon or Spartan race. The run is open to all ages and participants set their own pace. The goal isn’t to finish first, it’s to have a good time and get colorful.
