When Minden high school students head back to class next week they will not only be acclimating to a new building, but to a new class schedule as well. The new schedule will allow for several opportunities to benefit students.
“In the past we ran a modified schedule with seven periods and an AP. We didn’t have any study halls, just AP at the end of the day. What we’ve done now is we’ve put in guided study halls throughout the day and kids can take a guided study hall if they need one depending on their schedule or they can take another class,” MHS principal Don Hosick explained.
Response to the opportunities provided by the new schedule have been positive. While choosing classes for the upcoming year, the majority of students chose to take an additional class rather than opt for a guided study hall.
