The Minden City Council held a public hearing for the One & Six Year Street Plan during the February 20 regular meeting. Jeff Palik from Olsson Associates presented the improvement plans.
The One Year Plan has six projects. Two projects focus on improving Campbell Street both East and West of Brown Avenue. Palik outlined three options for addressing the problems on Campbell Street. The first option is to remove the armor coat maintaining the existing curb and gutter and repave with similar existing grade for approximately $375,000. The second choice is similar to the first with the additional work of regrading the crown of roadway and lowering the water main for two blocks for approximately $415,000.
The final option would remove all existing armor coat and curb and gutter, regrade the roadway raising the profile for two blocks to add cover over the water main, add a storm sewer, and repave some of the existing concrete drives for $525,000. The council will examine the options further when the time comes to start the project. The remaining tasks aim to replace existing armor coat with concrete and curbing on portions of Holland, N. Colorado Avenue, S. Colorado Avenue, and 7th Street.
