The June 11 meeting of the Minden Public Schools Board of Education marked a transition in leadership of the district. Both Superintendent Dr. Melissa Wheelock and her successor James Widdifield were in attendance.
Two agenda items addressed the matter of the upcoming change of superintendent. The first was designation of a Federal Programs Representative. The matter is typically handled during the July meeting but was brought up sooner to ensure there is no gap in representation when Widdifield starts on July 1.
A motion to designate Widdifield the MPS Federal Programs Representative effective July 1, 2018 was passed unanimously. Widdifield was given further endorsement with the approval of his authorization to dispose of materials effective July 1, 2018.
