The Kearney County Board of Supervisors revisited discussion of zoning permits and violations during the October 2 meeting. Zoning Administrator Joe Anderson answered questions the supervisors had about current practices.
Certain agricultural buildings are exempt from state requirements to obtain building permits before their construction. The exemption creates the opportunity for a lapse in reporting property improvements to the County Assessor’s office.
Anderson told the board a certificate of zoning compliance could help in those situations. Utilizing the certificates would require a policy change but it would ensure improvements are recorded and sent to the Assessor’s office. No action was taken.
