Sign up for the Caring Tree program for newborns through seniors in high school is now open. The intent of the program is to provide gifts to children who would otherwise go without during the holiday season.
To register to benefit from the program, parents can sign up through December 10 by calling Barb Braun at 832-1167 to schedule an appointment. During the registration, parents will need to bring gift ideas under $35 for their children as well as their clothing size. Proof of the household’s monthly gross income and residency will also be required.
The tree will be put up in the Senior Center window in Minden on November 19. “Ornaments” listing a child’s gender, clothing size, and a suggested gift, information gathered from the parents, will decorate the tree. Secret Santas can sign out “ornaments” and donate their unwrapped gifts to the Caring Tree program. Gifts will need to be returned by December 19.
