Representatives from the Light of the World pageant, Matt and Ben Morey, attended the November 20 meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors to discuss storage options for pageant costumes and props.
In the past the pageant was provided storage space in the upper levels of the courthouse. At one time a construction project forced the pageant to move their storage to the first floor of the courthouse. More recently they had to find storage at another location.
The costumes and props are currently stored in the basement of the Minden Opera House. The Moreys asked the supervisors if they could use the courthouse for storage once again. The board was sympathetic to them, but legal and insurance considerations limit what they can do. The pageant will use the Assembly Room for storage this season. The supervisors will speak with NIRMA while the Moreys speak with the Minden Opera House Foundation Board about a long term storage solution.
