The Wilcox-Hildreth boys bounced back from a tough outing the night before with a better performance on January 5, but still came out on the short end of state-rated Elm Creek’s 62-55 win over the Falcons at Elm Creek. W-H’s third loss in a row leaves the season mark at 7-3. They return home to host Loomis and Eustis-Farnam on Friday and Saturday, respectively, after not having a home game since December 6.
The Falcons could not have started much better against a quality opponent as they led the Buffs 22-15 at the end of one period. Elm Creek, however, owned the middle two quarters, with a 10-5 advantage in the second (W-H still led at half 27-25) and an upper hand of 16-8 in the third that put the Buffs up 41-35.
The fourth quarter had plenty of scoring, Elm Creek had a 21-20 edge, but the Falcons were seven points shy at the final horn.
