Top-seeded Wilcox-Hildreth was upended by fourth-seeded Arapahoe 45-40 in the subdistrict semifinals at Southern Valley on February 19. The Falcons’ season concluded at 12-8 and four W-H seniors had their 2018-19 campaign come to a bit of a premature end. Sidney Gruwell, AJ Jenkins, Clayton Nichols and Bryce Tobiassen helped the Falcons to a four-year 60-36 record.
After a promising start by Wilcox-Hildreth—12-2 lead after the first quarter—the Falcons were outscored in each period the rest of the way. Arapahoe had a 12-9 edge in the second but the Falcons still led at halftime 21-14.
The Warriors had grabbed the lead by the end of the third quarter with a 15-7 advantage that put them up 29-28. Then in the fourth Arapahoe outdid W-H 16-12 to close out the upset. The Falcons had won at Arapahoe in December by 12.
