The March 4 regular meeting of the Minden City Council was led by Chairman Larry Evans in the absence of Mayor Ted Griess. The council reviewed a condemnation order dated December 3, 2018.
The order to demolish the house at 311 S. Nebraska Avenue expired at the beginning of February. Photos of the property taken in December and again in February show no progress in complying. Reaching out to the property owner, the City was informed he intends to get one more load of items out of the house and then demolish the building. The weather has prevented him from removing the items, but he verbally agreed to show progress by May 15.
Evans suggested requiring an application for demolition be completed by April 15 with demolition to be completed by June 1. This will provide a time line that should work for both the property owner and the City while ensuring progress is being made in the process. A motion to require the property owner to complete a demolition application by April 15 and to have demolition completed by June 1 was made and approved.
