March 29-31, twenty-six FBLA members traveled to the State Leadership Conference in Omaha. Alex Raun started the conference off by singing the National Anthem in front of the 2,200 registered members. Alex tried out and was selected for this honor. Members competed in events, attended seminars, campaigned, and elected the new state officers. The conference was extra special this year as Nebraska is celebrating their 50th year in existence. In addition to the regular activities, there were special video presentations, booths, and alumni events in honor of this celebration.
Minden’s Trevor Sorensen was elected to the office of State Parliamentarian. Trevor will represent Minden on the six member state officer team for 2012-2013. The Minden chapter is very proud to have Trevor serving in this capacity for a second term. Shyanne Thompson served this past year as the state secretary and she and Trevor had many responsibilities at the conference. They both did a fine job this past year representing Nebraska as well as Minden FBLA.
