At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, Tom Sandberg will retire as the Axtell Public Schools superintendent, a position he has held for 21 years.
Sandberg grew up in Nebraska, going to school in Loomis and Holdrege. His father worked with special needs kids, where he helped out as a high school student.
