Longtime Minden dentist and community supporter Robert E. Etzelmiller, 60, was killed late Thursday morning at Pioneer Airfield in Minden.
According to a Minden Police Department press release, on Thursday, June 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Etzelmiller was found dead at the airfield.
Although still under investigation, Etzelmiller's death is being ruled an accident.
According to reports, Dr. Etzelmiller came in contact with the propeller of his Cessna 172 aircraft.
Funeral services for Dr. Etzelmiller were held Monday, June 14.-
Dr. Etzelmiller was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and traveling. He was a member of the Minden Gun Club, member and past president of the Minden Chamber of Commerce, member of the Minden Country Club, past member of the Minden School Board, member of the Nebraska Dental Association and had been a cast member of the "Light of the World" Christmas Pageant for over 55 years. Bob was proud to have been an Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife, Diane of Gibbon; daughter, Courtney Etzelmiller and her fiancée, George Moore of Virginia Beach, VA; his mother, Betty Etzelmiller of Minden; step son, Jeremy McCroden and his wife, Lori of Sutton, NE; two step daughters, Stacey McCroden of Kansas City, Kansas, and Kara Cushman and her husband, Shane of Sioux Falls, SD; and three step grandchildren, Dillon, Spencer and Lily McCroden.
