Westminster United Presbyterian Church of Minden joined the restoration efforts at Pioneer Village with a Service Sunday event on July 10. The congregation hopes their efforts inspire the wider church community to come together for further renovations needed at the church at Pioneer Village.
“That’s how we get our ideas. We hear the Holy Spirit talking through other things and say we have these things, we could do that,” Pastor Sharon Rees said.
The idea for a Service Sunday came from Rees who wanted to provide a mission opportunity for her parishioners. It can be nearly impossible to find a time that fits into everyone’s schedules, so she thought it could work to have Sunday morning worship at the church in Pioneer Village, the first established church of Minden, followed directly by a couple hours of service to reinvigorate the building.
