On Saturday, October 15, Music will fill the streets as the 26th annual Minden Bandfest gets under way. The Minden Chamber of Commerce sponsored event will feature 31 bands from schools across the state.
The competitive marching parade will begin at 1pm along W. 1st Street, run north on Brown Avenue, and west on 5th Street. Following the procession, 11 of the bands will compete in a field competition at Kuper Field beginning at 3pm.
Judges for this year’s competition are Ron Rickert of Geneva, Phil Parker of Hastings, and Dave Klein of Kearney. Categories to be judged will be Music with a possible 40 points, Marching with a possible 30 points, and General Effect with a possible 30 points. Bands scoring 80 points or higher will receive a Superior rating, 60-79 points an Excellent rating, and 40-59 points will get a Good rating.
