4-H’ers Win Top State Honors

The Kearney/Franklin County 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl teams took Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Honors at the Premier Animal Science Events in Lincoln recently.  Team members William Raun and Alex Raun of Minden, Madeleine Soucie of Upland and Kellyn Saathoff of Naponee won the  Senior Division of the 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl Competition. They will represent Nebraska at the National 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl Competition at AK-SAR-BEN in Omaha in September.
Team members Alex Nielsen of Minden and Jared Kuehn of Heartwell, Kenton Fritson, Brooke Dallman and Bailey McKay of Franklin were named the Reserve Champion Senior Team.  
The Intermediate team of Morgan Wilbur, Katrina Christiancy, Seth McKay all of Franklin and Austin Tuckwood of Red Cloud placed third in the Intermediate Livestock Quiz Bowl competition.  Kelsi Wilbur and Kersha Kahrs of Franklin and Miranda Paitz and Karen Paitz of Hildreth placed 10th in the Livestock Skillathon contest .
The 4-H Premier Animal Science Events  are held annually at the University of Nebraska –Lincoln  East Campus. These events test skills and knowledge in the Animal Science areas.
