Above And Beyond The Call Of Duty
Hats off to John Mullin.
The Minden Public School bus driver went above and beyond the call of duty last week when he assisted a family with children on his bus route.
Mullin, a retired Minden Public School teacher, has driven a bus route for the school for 11 years.
“There are four kids in the family, but that day the oldest wasn’t with them,” said John. “When I drop off the kids, the grandmother is usually there. She wasn’t at home. The little kids couldn’t find the key to get into the house, so I told them to hop back on the bus and we’d go back to Minden.”
After communicating to Transportation Director Dave Schoone, Mullin took the children to the Superintendent’s office to find contact information.
“The little girl remembered her mom’s cell phone number so we called her,” said Mullin. “But she couldn’t leave work to come back to Minden. Both parents work in Kearney, and it was going to be awhile before anyone could come pick the children up.”
