After 16 Straight Losses, Whippets Top Holdrege
The Class C-1 top-ranked Minden Whippets girls basketball team got a big monkey off their backs on Friday night. The Lady Whippets got their first victory over the Holdrege Dusters since January of 2000, a span of 16 contests against their former Southwest Conference rivals.
Minden was able to hold off the Class B ranked Holdrege squad 46-41 to improve to 13-2.
This win was also important to Minden head coach Rick Chramosta. Holdrege has had his and Minden’s number since he became coach in 2001. The victory was Chramosta’s first over the Dusters in his 12 years at Minden.
Minden got a big contribution from Alaina Boudreau in the win. The Dusters employed several junk defenses to stop the production of Brooke Kissinger and Jamie Kissinger. The senior was up to the challenge and delivered a season high 14 points including ten in the first half.
Rebecca Stewart and Jamie Kissinger joined Boudreau in double figures scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
