AgVenture Juniors End Year At B-6 Junior Tournament

The AgVenture Junior Legion baseball team concluded its 2010 season on July 17 after completing a three-game run in the Class B-6 district tournament held in Lexington.
The Juniors opened play on July 15, taking on Holdrege in a first round contest. AgVenture (5-7) was able to advance to the second round with a 10-7 victory over Holdrege.
Holdrege led AgVenture 4-0 after three innings after two runs in the second and third innings. AgVenture finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning. Jonas Lovin started the inning with a single followed by a Jordan Miller’s fielder’s choice followed by Jack Raffety reaching safely. Brendon Sinsel continued the inning with a single followed by a double from Mitch Muller. Paul Carlson reached on a walk and Chris Shelton singled. By the time the inning was over AgVenture plated five to hold a 5-4 lead over Holdrege.
Holdrege answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the advantage, 6-5.
AgVenture continued its hot hitting with Lovin, Miller and Muller all singling and scoring along with Raffety to push the lead to 10-5.
Holdrege scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth but it wasn’t enough as AgVenture held on for a 10-7 victory.
Miller and Muller were both 2 for 4 at the plate with two runs scored each. Lovin also added two hits as AgVenture had ten hits in the win.
