AgVenture Juniors Lose Area 6 Finals

The Minden Post #94 AgVenture Juniors came one win away from earning a berth in the Class B state tournament after a run through the Class B Area 6 tournament held in McCook beginning July 14 and running through July 19.
AgVenture was one of seven teams to compete along with Broken Bow, Shelton-Gibbon, Gothenburg, Cozad Reds, Holdrege First National and McCook First Central Bank.
AgVenture made its first of several trips to McCook on July 14 to take on the Broken Bow Juniors. AgVenture wasted little time in picking up an 11-1 victory to advance into the next round of the winners bracket.
Jordan Miller picked up the win for the Juniors going five innings facing 21 batters while striking out six, walking one and allowing just four hits.
AgVenture (12-5) got on top of Broken Bow in the first inning when Isaac Carlson walked and later scored on a fielder’s choice hit by Miller to make it 1-0.
In the second, the Juniors added three runs when Trevor Jacobsen and Matt Exstrom both singled followed by an RBI single by Carlson to score the pair. Jonas Lovin delivered a run scoring single that plated Carlson. AgVenture went ahead 4-0.
Broken Bow scored its only run of the game in the fifth to cut the deficit to 4-1. AgVenture would add three more runs in the third as Mitchell Muller singled followed by walks to Jacob Jelden and Journey Erickson. Jacobsen’s single scored Muller and Jelden and Erickson would later score to pad the AgVenture lead to 7-1.
The Juniors would add one run in the fourth as Lovin singled and scored on a Muller double to make it 8-1. AgVenture closed out the game in the fifth with three more runs. Jacobsen had his third single of the game while Landon Lempka added a single and stole second and third and his hit plated Jacobsen. Lempka was brought home on a hit from Lovin to end the game 11-1.

AgVenture kept moving along in the winner’s bracket on July 15 picking up a 10-7 win over the Holdrege Post #66 First National Juniors to remain undefeated in tournament play.
Lovin picked up the victory for AgVenture going all seven innings and facing 34 hitters striking out five with five walks and allowing five hits.
AgVenture (13-5) broke open the scoreless contest in the third by scoring three runs as Jelden started the rally with a single followed by an Exstrom single. Carlson hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Jelden and Lovin walked and Muller drove home Exstrom and Carlson to make it 3-0 for AgVenture.
