Amalia Hanneman

Amalia “Molly” O. Hanneman, 88, of Kearney, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at St. John’s – Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., July 3, 2020 at Countryside Christian Church with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating. Burial followed the service at Fredericksburg Cemetery south of Minden.  Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Molly was born December 3, 1931 in Kearney to Magner and Viola (Stuthiet) Nielsen.  She grew up south of Minden and graduated from Minden High School in 1951. She moved to Kearney in 1952 and began working at St. Luke’s Nursing Home.  Molly married Marvin Hanneman on February 6, 1957 in Minden, they made their home in Kearney.  Molly worked as a nurse’s aide at Mosaic in Axtell, a cook and custodian at Northeast Elementary School in Kearney, and a custodian at the Hilltop Mall until retiring in 2003. Molly was always there for her family, making them her Number 1 priority. She also enjoyed feeding the neighborhood squirrels and birds. 

Molly is survived by her daughters, Lorelie Hanneman of Kearney, Deb Engler and husband Carl of Silver Creek, NE, Ruthann Whatley of Kansas, Sarah Scoville and husband Bill of Sumner, NE; son, Paul Hanneman of Kearney; brother, Burdette Nielsen of Cabool, MO; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Molly was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Diana Taylor, two brothers, and one sister-in-law.
