Arapahoe Defeats Wildcats

The Axtell Wildcats football team opened its 2011 season on the road in a week zero game traveling to Arapahoe to take on the Warriors in a non-district contest.
Axtell scored the first points of the game but three second half touchdowns by the Warriors propelled them to a 25-6 victory over the Cats.
Axtell (0-1) found the end zone in the second period after both teams failed to find pay dirt in the first quarter. The Wildcats scored their one and only touchdown on a 35-yard completion from quarterback Lance Taylor to Brandon Benson. The point-after try failed and Axtell led Arapahoe 6-0.
The Warriors responded before intermission scoring on a 30-yard touchdown run to make the score 6-6 going into halftime.
After halftime, Arapahoe would take its first lead of the contest scoring on an 11-yard touchdown run to go ahead 12-6 after the PAT failed.
Axtell was unable to find the end zone in the third period and Arapahoe entered the final 12 minutes holding a 12-6 lead. The Warriors would score twice more in the fourth quarter to ensure a home victory.
The Warriors first score of the fourth period came on a 10-yard touchdown run followed by the PAT kick to put Arapahoe ahead 19-6.
