Artists Take Inspiration From Minden

The staff of the Minden Opera House often tell people that they have the best view in town during the Christmas season. Now, thanks to the stunning artwork of two gifted artists, they can share that view.

Christmas in Minden is a stunning 22.5 x 18.5 framed oil portrait by Kearney Artist Jeff Montag. Jeff has generously donated this piece to be auctioned off as a fundraiser for the Minden Opera House. The auction will be live online starting Monday, Nov. 8 with the winner being announced Wednesday, Nov. 24. To bid, visit MindenOperaHouse.com.

When asked about his inspiration for creating the piece, Montag says, “Living here in Central Nebraska, we sometimes forget the jewels we have right around us. In this time of suburban sprawl, very few people know what it is to have a town center. We have forgotten what it is to know where the core of our town is and a sense of shared culture. For those who live here, this is their community, their home. For others, this is the ideal and what I want to give everyone— this sense of belonging and the peace and comfort that community can give.”
