Auto Way Bowl Takes Second at Nationals
The Minden travel league team “Have Ball Will Travel” is getting accustomed to placing in the United States Bowling Congress tournament. The Minden team sponsored by Auto Way Bowl in Minden comprised of Nancy Klahn, Glenda Jacobsen, Sherri Merrill, Donna Dyke, Debbi Allen and Lynn Whitten had another impressive tournament in 2011.
The Minden team traveled to Syracuse, New York to compete in the Sapphire/Division II nationwide tournament in early June 2011. The Auto Way Bowl team rolled nine games finishing with a team total of 2,515 pins which placed them second overall in the nation with over 2,000 teams competing in their division.
The champions, Diane’s Dreamers from Joilet, Ill., won the 2011 tournament with a team score of 2,555 and third place went to a team from Temple Hills, Md., called Greenville Girls 2 with total pins of 2,463.
“We want to express a big thanks to Colleen and Howard Maxon at Auto Way Bowl for all they do for us,” said Nancy Klahn. “Auto Way is so generous to sponsor our team at this national event.”
“They have supported our team for a long-time and we want to make sure everyone in the community knows how fortunate we are to have them in our community as business owners and citizens,” added Glenda Jacobsen. “They have done a lot of work in their bowling facility to make it a true treasure.”
The “Have Ball Will Travel” team has been has been around for 29 years and participates the third Sunday of the month from September through April, traveling to different bowling alleys throughout the state.
