Nathan Avery was sworn in as Kearney County Supervisor District 2 before the August 24 regular meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors. As part of his duties as supervisor, Avery will serve on the committees previously served by his predecessor, Ross Bruning.
A public hearing was opened for the Dornhoff Acres subdivision. The subdivision is north of Heartwell on 40 Road. It will be two blocks with a portion in between that hasn’t been plotted. The plan is to divide the land into six lots with individual driveway access off to each lot off the County Road. The lots are all five acres and will have their own well and septic tank.
Zoning Administrator Joe Anderson explained the Planning and Zoning Commission had held two public hearings on the matter. After hearing comments from the public both in favor and opposed to the subdivision, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved the preliminary subdivision. Dawn Thompson and Malcom Dornhoff abstained from the vote due to a conflict of interest.
