The nine-team Axtell Invitational, postponed from April 6 due to expected lousy weather, didn’t get the weather break anticipated for the reschedule date of April 9 as it was still cold and blustery. But the meet was held and the Axtell girls’ and boys’ teams both achieved championships—the first this season for the Lady Cats and the fourth in a row for the boys.
The girls scored 100 and outpaced the rest of the top five which included Bertrand (96), Loomis (75), Elm Creek (74) and Wilcox-Hildreth (65).
The boys scored 171.5 to handily outdistance Bertrand (89), Alma (71), Amherst (51) and Loomis (49). Wilcox-Hildreth finished eighth scoring 21.
