Axtell’s boys won the Kenesaw Invitational on March 30 while the Lady Cats finished third in the nine-team track meet.
The top four boys’ teams were the Wildcats (147), Doniphan-Trumbull (103), Shelton (100) and Kenesaw (71). On the girls’ side the top four were Doniphan- Trumbull (106 1/3), Shelton (95), Axtell (67) and Kenesaw (63).
The Cat boys won eight events and earned second in five others. Gold winners were Cal Johnson (400, 800, 4 X 400 relay with Jonathan Lorenzo, Cooper Miller, Quinn Bertrand), Jaron Bergstrom (1600, 3200), Aaron Skaggs (110 hurdles), Qwentin Kappelmann (pole vault) and the unscored weight relay (Brennan Runge, Zach Arner, Brent Senff, Kaleb Senff). Grabbing silvers were Kappelmann (1600,3200), Bertrand (300 hurdles), Joe French (pole vault) and the 4 X 100 relay (Miller, Skaggs, Runge, Gavend Cole).
