Axtell Boys Win Kenesaw Invite

Axtell’s boys won their second invitational to open the season and the Lady Cats improved upon last week’s finish to come in third at the ten-team Kenesaw Track and Field Invitational on March 28.
The boys’ 128 points outdistanced Blue Hill’s 90 and Superior’s 80. The Cats’ excellent depth allowed them to score in 16 of the 17 events as 13 different boys had a hand in racking up points. Braiden Gomez broke his own school record in winning the 100 in a time of 10.91 (old record 10.93) and he also earned gold in the 200 and the pole vault. Axtell’s 3200 relay as well as Lane Bertrand in the 110 hurdles also took first.
The Cats picked up four seconds—Jarrett Bertrand in the 400 and 800, Lane Bertrand in the 300 hurdles and Creighton Kring in the long jump. Lincoln Trent finished third in the 3200.
