Axtell Comes Up Short at Sub-state

The Axtell girls volleyball team traveled to Albion on October 30 with a state playoff berth on the line against Cedar Catholic Trojans. The Wildcats momentum was riding high after a successful sub-districts and despite Axtell’s best efforts, the Wildcats came up short in all three sets 20-25, 25-27 and 23-25. Senior Lexie Eckhoff laid it all out on the court in her last game for the Wildcats as she totaled eighteen kills, three aces and one dig. Junior Ellie Johnson was a huge factor on defense throughout amounting to fourteen digs.

Axtell’s season was impressive, finishing with an overall record of 23-9. Despite coming up short of a state berth, the Wildcats have a lot of potential heading into next year despite losing five seniors.
