Axtell’s girls downed Sumner-Eddyville-Miller 46-39 in Axtell on January 5 to climb back to .500 at 5-5.
SEM led 10-7 after one period and, with the teams each scoring 11 in the second, the Lady Mustangs still had a three-point halftime lead, 21-18.
The Lady Cats put together a very good third quarter defensive effort, limiting SEM to just two points while themselves scoring 12, to go to the fourth ahead 30-23. Then both clubs scored 16 in the fourth period allowing the Cats to get the seven-point win.
