The Axtell Wildcats girls volleyball team was in action for the first round of districts on October 24 against Elm Creek Buffaloes. Axtell dominated the contest from start to finish in three sets 25-9, 25- 16 and 25-7. Senior Lexie Eckhoff was a huge focal point for the Wildcats offense totaling fourteen kills and one ace. Junior Ellie Johnson led the way on defense totaling seven digs while also contributing five aces on offense.
In the second round of districts, Axtell took on Loomis Wolves on October 25. This was a highly contested matchup with the number one seed Wildcats winning all three sets with a final score of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20. Lexie Eckhoff was on fire throughout the contest paving the way for the Wildcats victory totaling twenty one kills, two aces and four digs. Senior Angela Snell led the way on defense with twelve total digs while Ellie Johnson contributed eleven digs for the team.
It was a great overall team effort for the Wildcats, and they will look to keep the momentum going as they try to qualify for the state.
