The Axtell School Board approved a return to school plan for the district during the August 10 meeting. In addition to the safety protocol outlined in the plan, kindness, flexibility, and communication will help ensure a successful 2020-21 school year.
Created with input from a task force representing school staff, parents, and community, the back to school plan uses a three level, color coded system to identify risk level and the coordinating safety protocol that will be implemented. Weekly risk level will be determined based on local information from a number of sources.
Axtell is currently at the yellow, minimal/moderate risk, level and expects to spend most of the school year at this level. In yellow the number of COVID positive cases or percent of positive cases is steady or on a downward trajectory. The virus has a small impact on the local healthcare system capacity and PPE supplies are adequate for critical workers and community needs. In summary, the situation is manageable and school can operate at a moderately normal capacity.
