Axtell Wildcats Fall to Alma 32-26

A number of big plays by both teams produced or led to touchdowns but Alma made a few more of each in its 32-26 win over Axtell in Alma on August 26. This was Alma’s second game (now 2-0) but the first contest of the season for the Wildcats (0-1).

There was no scoring in the first quarter. Taaron Lavicky had an 18-yard sack to snuff one cardinal drive and on the ensuing possession Carson Lindau broke free for a 42-yard run to the Alma 11 but the Cats were stopped on downs.

The Cardinals kept their first drive of the second quarter alive by hauling in a pass that Lindau nearly intercepted but tipped into the hands of an Alma receiver. Two plays later the Cards scored on a 36-yard pass play at 8:06 of the second. The conversion run failed but they led 6-0.
