Axtell Wins In Overtime, 58-56

The Axtell Wildcats boys basketball team got its first victory of the season at home on Dec. 7 when they hosted the Silver Lake Mustangs.
The Cats needed an overtime period to prevail but they came out on top of a narrow 58-56 victory.
Axtell (1-2) was led by senior Bryce Runge who had a monster came for the Cats. Runge scored a career-high 31 points including hitting three three-pointers and making eight free throws along with five steals and five assists and six rebounds in an all-around good game.
Erik Lundeen also reached double figures scoring 13 points and pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Axtell pulled out to a four point lead for Coach Andy Klepper after the first period, 17-13.
