Barbara Roberts

Barbara K. Roberts, age 84, passed away on April 29, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by the love of her family. Barbara was born on March 18, 1938, in Cambridge, Nebraska, to Lester and Vera Johnson.

On May 25, 1958, Barb married Bob J. Roberts, and the couple settled in Minden, Nebraska.  After achieving her master’s degree, Barbara was a teacher in the Nebraska Public school system for 30 plus years, most notably for Minden Public Schools teaching the second grade.  Barbara’s passion was teaching and every student who had “Mrs. Roberts” as a teacher was not only well educated but very much loved.

Fueled by their entrepreneurial spirit and their strong and loving partnership, Bob and Barbara built a reputable tree and hay baling business.

Above all, Barbara was a God-abiding woman who loved and enjoyed spending time with her close friends and family. Her priorities were always God, family, and friends—in that order and her favorite book was always the Bible.

Barbara along with her husband, Bob, were the foundation for both the Johnson and Roberts families, always leading by example with their integrity, honesty, and loyalty.  They touched the hearts of everyone they met, building a legacy of love and character.

Along with her husband, Bob, Barb was an active member of the United Methodist Church and heavily involved in philanthropic and missionary work.  Barb spent 30 plus years supporting missionary endeavors through the church and local missionaries.

She is survived by sons, Les, Steve, and Neal; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many beloved family members of the Roberts and Johnson families.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Nebraska with Pastor David Kim officiating. Interment followed services in the Fairview Cemetery, Cambridge.

Viewing took place prior to services at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to East Elementary of Minden, Nebraska.  Online condolences may be left at Lockenour.com.  Arrangements are entrusted to Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.
