Bethany Lutheran Breaks Ground On $1M Expansion

Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden broke ground on their expansion and renovation project on Wednesday, April 4.
Pastor Don Hunzeker opened the ceremony with a greeting before the congregation sang the hymn “The Church’s One Foundation.”
Hunzeker read from the Bible and gave a short address, recognizing those who had been with the church since its original construction. He also encouraged those in attendance that the financial cost of the expansion would make the results more meaningful.
A group of children sang for the gathering and then the ceremony was moved outside for the groundbreaking.
Hunzeker and church officials were joined by the oldest and youngest congregation member in attendance.
Members who were present during the original construction also took a turn with the shovels, and the pastor closed the ceremony by leading those in attendance in The Lord’s Prayer.
