Hearings for the Minden Public Schools 2021-22 budget and tax request were opened prior to the September 13 regular meeting of the Minden Public Schools Board of Education. There were no comments from the public given during either hearing.
Superintendent Jim Widdifield provided an overview of the budget. The proposed tax rate request is up minimally from last year at 74¢. The overall tax rate change is two percent.
Increases to the General Fund budget were set to cover salary, insurance increases, and additional costs due to COVID. The Special Building Fund is focused on the C.L. Jones Middle School HVAC and roof project. The Depreciation Fund has been repurposed toward HVAC equipment.
