The Minden Public Schools Board of Education took measures to move forward with the demolition of the old high school building during the August 13 meeting.
B2 Environmental was in attendance when bids were opened on August 9. Four bids were received with Blessing Construction coming in as the lowest bid. Comparing the bids during the regular meeting, the Blessing Construction bid was significantly lower than the other three bids but had a longer time line. Despite the time it will take to complete demolition, Superintendent James Widdifield suggested the board approve their bid.
Blessing Construction provided a completion date of February 28, 2019. Before that date, the company will do prep work for the demolition including shutting down utilities and capping lines. The prep work will be done after the auction of surplus property from the old high school building and will save the district money in unnecessary utilities.
