Board Approves K-12 Language Arts Curriculum
The April 11 regular meeting of the Minden Public Schools Board of Education opened with Lisa Maulsby’s first grade class leading the board and public in the Pledge of Allegiance and performing the National Anthem. Those gathered for the meeting were also treated to a presentation by the Minden FFA Conduct of Chapter team which placed fifth at the state competition the previous week.
The board considered the consent agenda including minutes from the March 14 and 29 meetings, financial reports, and expenditures and claims for payment. The figures were reviewed by the Finance Committee prior to the meeting with revenue and overall budget aligning with where they should be for the year. Superintendent Jim Widdifield told the board expenditures are down for the month, but the board can expect to see more at the next meeting as the district begins making purchases for the 2022-23 school year and preparing for summer projects. The consent agenda was approved as presented.
One certified staff contract was presented to the board for consideration. C.L. Jones Middle School Principal Chelsea Jensen explained Liz Bloomfield has resigned from her position as Middle School Art instructor effective at the end of the school year. Amanda Swift, currently a fourth grade teacher at CLJMS will move into the vacant position for the 2022-23 school year.
