During the February 4 meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors, the board was visited by Matt Cederburg from the City of Minden and Sharon Hueftle from SCEDD to discuss reuse funds held by the County.
Kearney County currently holds $167,000 in reuse funds with another $19,000 still out in a loan. The state has determined that any idle funds be returned by June 30, 2020. If the County would like to keep the funds local, they must be used or under contract before June 30.
Cederburg and Hueftle suggested creating a Community Development Block Grant. They explained the options i.e. loan, grant, forgivable, partially forgivable, and match requirements as well as requirements for a qualifying project.
