Owning her own business has always been a dream for Valerie Jameson and last week that dream came true with the opening of Valerie’s Interiors.
“I’ve always been interested in furniture and design, I’ve actually worked as a design consultant for seven and a half years I’ve sold furniture and made floral designs and wreaths for the past three and a half years at craft shows.”
Valerie’s husband Mick first noticed the For Sale sign in the window of the little shop on north Minden Avenue.
“It was my husband Mick’s idea to purchase the building,” said Valerie. “It’s always been a dream of mine to have a shop of my own, so this is like a dream come true for me.”
Valerie, originally from St. Libory, comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Her father, Lewis Helgoth, was the founder of Helgoth’s Produce in St. Libory.
The desire to own my own business is kind of in my blood,” said Valerie. “My dad started the family produce business and he was a great salesman and believed in a good product. I definitely get my desire to own my own business from him.”
