Cats Qualify Two From Tough District

The Axtell Wildcats and Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons traveled west to Cambridge to compete in the Class D-3 district tournament featuring 20 teams.
The Wildcats were able to qualify two participants to the 2016 Nebraska State Wrestling Championships held in Omaha at the CenturyLink Center Feb. 18-20. Qualifying for the state meet for the first time were junior Hunter Stratman at 182 pounds and sophomore AJ Skaggs at 285 pounds.
Stratman (27-10) will face Garrett Stone of Sutton (24-7) on Thursday afternoon in the first round while Skaggs (20-4) will take on Reed Schaefer of Lutheran High Northeast (24-14) which begins at 4 p.m. followed by the quarterfinals.
