Cats Upended By Bulldogs In D2-8

The Axtell Wildcat boys basketball team headed into subdistrict play on Feb. 19 when they traveled to Wood River to compete in the Class D2-8 subdistrict.

 

The Wildcats came into the subdistrict as the second-seed and took on the third-seeded Pleasanton Bulldogs with the winner advancing to the subdistrict final on Friday.

 

Axtell and Pleasanton would go down to the wire before the Bulldogs ended the Cats season with an upset victory, 49-47. Pleasanton advanced to take on the top-seeded Amherst Broncos in the final.

 

The Wildcats end their 2012-13 season with a mark of 12-12 as Pleasanton improves to 6-15 on the year.

 

Axtell was led by Jordan Miller with a team-high 11 points followed by Cody Nickel with nine points while Marcus Kring and Brandt Runge each added eight points.
