The Minden Community Choir helped kick off the Minden Chamber of Commerce Thursday Night Entertainment lineup. On June 30, residents descended on Chautauqua Park for the free concert, food trucks, and farmers market. Chamber members hope the positive reaction continues with the remaining events this summer.
Just Dance Studio will get the crowd warmed up July 7 with a few dance numbers created by instructors Erin Reid and Whitney Kreutzer. Kearney Community Band will take the stage after the routines. The volunteer band led by Dan Frizane performs a variety of music including marches, patriotic, pop, show tunes, light classics, and jazz. The show will be reminiscent of community band concerts held after the Civil War.
That tradition is the blueprint for the Thursday Night Entertainment schedule. Rather than hosting only a community band to play however, the Chamber has arranged for a number of local talents to perform each week. Bobby Jacobs will engage the community July 14 as he sings rock and country classics. Jacobs performed during the test run of the Thursday Night Entertainment last summer as well as during the Celebration of Lights. Both performances were well received.
