The Minden Whippet wrestling team competed on Saturday in the 10-team Holdrege Invitational.
The Whippets came away with a ninth place finish scoring 55.5 points. McCook won the invite title with 161 points followed by Grand Island Northwest with 130 and Holdrege 116.
The Whippets came away with three medalists including two individual champions. Junior Jack Raffety claimed gold in the 160 pound class while senior Bryce Lewis cruised through the 171 pound class to the gold medal. Freshman Dyllan Kuehn added a fourth place medal at 103 pounds for the Whippets.
The following are the results for each Whippet wrestler in their respective weight class:
103: Kuehn started his meet with a bye before losing in the semifinals to Lothrop of GINW by fall in 34 seconds. Kuehn rallied in the consolation bracket to beat French of Broken Bow in 1:34 for a place in the finals. In the final, he lost to Fuehrer of Holdrege by fall in 2:02 to take fourth place. Kuehn is 4-4 on the season.
